A few weeks ago, a news story about a black barrister who was mistaken for a defendant three times in one day was brought to my attention. I was completely appalled at what I was reading to say the least. Out of curiosity, I decided to do my own research on 25 year old Alexandra Wilson and found that she had been using her social media platforms to speak out on racial injustice a long while before the unfortunate incident at her work place. She is also an Oxford University graduate who has published a book called In Black and White: A Young Barrister’s Story, highlighting issues concerning class, race and the broken justice system in the UK.
Extremely impressed at her achievements at such a young age, I was eager to have a conversation with her and felt that it was important for people to get to know her outside of the incident. Alexandra was very open and shared some of things that have shaped the person she is
