Beyond providing you with the products and accessories you deserve, Garnier is committed to being a haircare brand that supports Black women on their haircare journey in various ways. Together, Garnier Hair and Black Ballad have three key haircare tips to help you maintain healthy hair during the winter season:
1. Moisture is Key
Keeping your hair moisturised in the cold winter months is essential to avoid breakage. We know time is precious (I also heard Tems and Wizkid in my head), but weekly wash days are excellent for keeping your hair hydrated.
BB Members loved our Garnier x Black Ballad boxes, rated Banana & Coconut 4 out of 5 stars and many praised the Banana Hair Mask - powered by Shea Butter and Vitamins - for its moisturising properties:
“I found it moisturising yet able to provide some hold” - Anon, 32, West Midlands, with thick, 4b hair, previously in braids
“I was experiencing dry, brittle hair and I feel the difference pretty much immediately upon washing out in the shower. The moisture and shine lasts for a solid week after use if aftercare is followed and I was thoroughly impressed with this product.” - Tania, 38, London, with thick, 4c hair, previously in locs
“I found the product moisturising and detangling” - Anon, 41, London, with fine, 3c hair
2. Fabrics Can Make or Break Your Hair
As Kayleigh Benoit pointed out in her winter haircare article from 2023, our winter wardrobe can contribute to additional dryness. Thick woollen and cotton jumpers, especially polo necks, can rub against our hair and cause damage. Combine this with cotton pillowcases, and fabrics can truly take a toll on our hair. Thankfully, this box has you covered with a Yeye Mi Pillow Case and a Krafts By Kerry™ Bonnet.
3. Diet Matters
While products are amazing, our diet and overall health form the foundation for healthy hair growth. A balanced diet is key, but greens such as spinach, broccoli, and kale – rich in vitamins A and E – are particularly beneficial. Vitamin A supports the production of sebum, the oily substance that moisturises the scalp, while Vitamin E hydrates your scalp and hair, preventing dryness that can lead to breakage.
Nuts are a great source of omega-3, which nourishes hair follicles and promotes growth. Don’t forget foods high in protein, such as lean meats and eggs, to strengthen your hair strands. And drink plenty of water!
For this BB Members Perk, we are looking for 18 Black women who:
๐ฉ๐ฟ๐ฆฑ Plan on washing their hair before 20th December
