The work of black and mixed-race womxn creatives in Wales often doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. The Welsh arts sector is made up of a majority of white-led organisations that are mostly white-staffed, so navigating and creating space in the creative scene is a challenge. But despite this, we are of abundance. There is brilliant and important work being made in Wales, from collectives providing opportunities for the community to individuals representing us in books, on screen and behind the scenes.
I spoke to a selection of Welsh womxn creatives on what they do and their experiences.
